"Winning" by Jack Welsh

- "Before you become a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others."
- "The team with the best players usually does win. That's why you need to invest the vast majority of your time and energy as a leader in three activities: evaluate, coach and build self-confidence."
- "Work can be hard. But your job as a leader is to fight the gravitational pull of negativism."
- "When you are an individual contributor, you try to have all the answers. When you are a leader, your job is to have all the questions. You have to be incredibly comfortable looking like the dumbest person in the room."
- "There is just not enough celebrating going on at work. Celebrating creates an atmosphere of recognition and positive energy."

Volgende 8 manieren van leiderschap gebruikte Welsh steeds met succes:
1. Leaders relentlessly upgrade their team, using every encounter as an opportunity to evaluate, coach and build self-confidence.
2. Leaders make sure people not only see the vision, they live and breath it.
3. Leaders get into everyone's skin, exuding positive energy and optimism.
4. Leaders establish trust with candor, transparency and credit.
5. Leaders have the courage to make unpopular decisions and gut calls.
6. Leaders propbe and push with a curiosity that borders on skepticism, making sure their questions are answered with action.
7. Leaders inspire risk taking and learning by setting the example.
8. Leaders celebrate.

Goede medewerkers vinden is super-moeilijk.
Over het aanwerven, werkte Welsh a.d.h.v 3 screenings (integrity (eerlijkheid), intelligence (intelligentie) en maturity (maturiteit)) en daarna volgens het '4-E and 1-P framework':
1. Positive Energy
2. The ability to Energize others
3. Edge: the courage to make tough decissions
4. Execute: the ability to get a job done
5. Passion

'k Denk dat ik het boek maar eens ga kopen en lezen...
